Description

A delicious, fun, and easy dinner that brings all the flavor of a classic pizza into a perfect handheld package.

  • Dough Options:
    • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough
    • Optional: Homemade pizza dough
  • Filling:
    • 1/2 cup marinara or pizza sauce
    • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1/4 cup mini pepperoni or cooked sausage (optional)
    • 1/4 cup chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives (optional)
    • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
    • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Topping:
    • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
    • Dried oregano or garlic powder (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to the temperature on the pizza dough package. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unroll the dough and cut it into 8 squares.
  • In a medium bowl, combine all the filling ingredients.
  • Spoon a tablespoon of the filling onto one half of each dough square. Fold the other half over and pinch the edges to seal.
  • Place the pockets on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with oregano or garlic powder.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill the pockets to prevent them from bursting open.
  • For a flakier texture, you can use refrigerated crescent roll dough.
  • A good, tight seal is key to keeping the cheesy filling inside the pocket.
