Ingredients
Scale
- → Dough Options:
- 1 package refrigerated pizza dough
- Optional: Homemade pizza dough
- → Filling:
- 1/2 cup marinara or pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup mini pepperoni or cooked sausage (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives (optional)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- → Topping:
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Dried oregano or garlic powder (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to the temperature on the pizza dough package. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the dough and cut it into 8 squares.
- In a medium bowl, combine all the filling ingredients.
- Spoon a tablespoon of the filling onto one half of each dough square. Fold the other half over and pinch the edges to seal.
- Place the pockets on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with oregano or garlic powder.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Don’t overfill the pockets to prevent them from bursting open.
- For a flakier texture, you can use refrigerated crescent roll dough.
- A good, tight seal is key to keeping the cheesy filling inside the pocket.
- These are perfect for a weeknight dinner or a fun family movie night.
