Description
A decadent and savory twist on the classic sloppy joe, with rich Parmesan and a creamy Alfredo sauce.
Ingredients
- → 1 pound ground chicken
- → 1 tablespoon olive oil
- → 1 small onion, finely chopped
- → 2 cloves garlic, minced
- → 1 cup heavy cream
- → 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- → 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- → Salt and pepper to taste
- → 4 hamburger buns
- → Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Add the ground chicken to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until no longer pink and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the heavy cream, then the grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Toast the hamburger buns. Spoon a generous amount of the chicken mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Garnish with parsley.
- Place the top bun on the filling and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a smooth sauce, make sure to use low heat when adding the cream and cheese.
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese will melt much better than pre-shredded.
- Toasting the buns is essential to prevent them from becoming soggy.
- This dish is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
